Egencia and the Egencia Global Alliance to offset the carbon footprint of all visitors to the Egencia stand at the Business Travel Show by planting 5000 trees in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest

London, 26 February 2020 – Today Egencia®, announces a sustainability offer by Egencia Consulting. This includes a four-prong program to help clients build more sustainable travel programs. To mark this announcement, Egencia along with Tour House of Brazil and other Egencia Global Alliance (EGA) members, is planting 5,000 trees in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. This commitment will offset travel made by event attendees that visit the Egencia stand during the two-day show.

Since 2016, Egencia Consulting has successfully helped travel managers optimize their travel program for sustainability and today this program is being made available to all customers. It adds to the range of tools travel managers have to help them build more sustainable travel programs, including the Carbon Emissions Workspace in Egencia Analytics Studio, which features Dashboards for Hotel and Air — Rail will be released in the spring.

“Every day travel managers seek our advice on how to build a more sustainable travel program. With the Egencia Consulting sustainability offer, they get expert advice from deep industry specialists,” Manuel Brachet, Egencia vice president of account management, said. “We’re working to support customers’ sustainability objectives across multiple areas of business travel, today with real-time carbon emission data reports and consulting, and tomorrow with tools and insights to make more sustainable travel choices.” Egencia Consulting’s sustainability offer delivers a diagnostic approach to optimizing travel programs by providing insights in four key areas:

  • Planet: incorporating sustainability into travel policy such as guidance on how to choose direct flights over stop overs, leverage eco-hotels, and select hybrid cars for hire.
  • People: building an environmentally conscious work culture, for example optimizing work trips, and ensuring the workforce is culturally and wellbeing aware.
  • Profit: scenario planning including financial, wellbeing and productivity impacts of any policy changes.
  • Performance: measuring the impact of policy changes such as the impact of having fewer travelers per work trip or tracking a carbon budget per team or department.

“We wanted a sustainable travel program that went further than just air travel, so we decided to focus on hotels,” Peggy Gabriel, global category manager FM & HR Services at Vattenfall, said. “We worked closely with the Egencia Consulting sustainability practice to set our sustainability requirements, benchmark these against the hotel market, and evaluate the results. Most importantly, we then made our preferred sustainable hotels visible through our online booking system, really integrating sustainability into the core of our travel program.”

Egencia Consulting advises on all types of travel programs whether simple or mature through a range of services, delivered by a team of industry specialists. For more mature travel programs, an in-depth performance analysis benchmarked against the industry and competitors is available.
