Matthew Christie: New Managing Director of Egencia Australia

Egencia has appointed Matthew Christie as Managing Director, Egencia Australia effective from 7 September, 2016.

Matt joins Egencia with a wealth of experience in B2B sales and general management.  He has spent the last 5 years as the General Manager and Head of Oceania for Grass Valley, a leading supplier of technology products to the broadcast industry. Prior to that, Matt spent 8 years as the General Manager and Head of CNBC Australia New Zealand, the business and financial television channel of the NBC Universal Group. Matt earned an MBA from AGSM, the Australian Graduate School of Management, one of Australia’s top graduate business schools.  He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Sydney and a Diploma with High Distinction in New Media from the University of Technology Sydney.

Matt’s extensive experience working with Australian and multinational companies will be invaluable at Egencia in helping our customers transform their business travel programs and build success through growth while maximising savings and efficiency.

Outside of work, Matt is an insane sportsman, having completed 7 Iron Man Triathlons!  For those of you who don’t know, an Iron Man consists of a 3.9 km open water swim, a 180 km bicycle ride and a full running Marathon of 42.2 km, all three races in that order without stopping.

A few words from Matt:

"I'm extremely excited to be joining the Egencia team in Australia and being part of the Expedia group. Egencia is a well-respected brand in Australia and is currently positioned very well to continue to grow and capture further market share in the immediate and long term. The Egencia brand is something I found very attractive primarily for the innovative product and strong focus on enabling technology. We have a unique and compelling sales proposition in the Australian corporate travel market. My work history has been in the publishing, media and broadcast businesses with companies including Australian Consolidated Press, Foxtel, General Electric and NBC Universal. I'm now looking forward to a new challenge and career with Expedia. I have a strong focus on creating dynamic, strong work groups to attain commercial goals and building a strong and energised pro-active sales ethos. I'm a father of two girls and have several interests outside of work including long course triathlon (ironman & 70.3), ocean swimming and endurance sports. I'm looking forward to meeting the team in Australia and continuing to build and establish Egencia in Australia.”
